First the facts:

Carry's review: Oh MY! When I told my friends and family that I had a bamboo shirt on, the requests to feel it were immediate and the oohs and ahhs followed quickly after! Those who hadn't heard of bamboo clothing were instant fans. Right out of the package the shirt was a little more snug than I am used to (that usual "new shirt" feel), but one wash cycle and the shirt was broken in - it was as if the shirt was tailor made for me! It falls wonderfully, and whenever I wear it I find myself absently feeling the fabric throughout the day. Bamboo fabric has been described as a combination of silk and cashmere, and I totally agree. Try it for yourself!

Information about bamboo:

SUSTAINABLE RESOURCE. Talk about actually being able to watch the grass grow... Bamboo grows two inches per HOUR! Because bamboo grows so quickly, it is a resource that is not only sustainable, but also gives back to the environment. Bamboo grows nearly everywhere, and can handle wet or dry climates. Most commercial tree species take 25-70 years to mature, but bamboo stalks mature in just three to five years, so it's much easier to replenish and doesn't tax the environment as much.

MORE OXYGEN. Trees also do a wonderful thing for us humans, they release oxygen for us to breathe and that's just one more way that bamboo can help! A bamboo grove releases 35% more oxygen than the same size stand of trees.

SAVES WATER/EROSION. The bamboo root system is amazing! The roots grow out and form a net, stopping erosion and holding on to more water when it rains. In fact, bamboo keeps twice as much water in the watershed than commercial trees, often eliminating the need for irrigation and sprinkler systems.

BETTER HOUSING. Bamboo buildings are also becoming more popular due to a couple of amazing factors. When earthquakes hit, bamboo buildings sway with the rhythm and remain intact while their wooden neighbors are shattered. In Costa Rica, 1000 houses are built annually from just 60 hectares of plantation. Keep in mind, the wood we usually use would take 500 hectares just to build the same number of houses. Bamboo also makes great furniture and flooring.

How we measure: While the shirt is laying flat and in a relaxed state, the first measurement is the width of the shirt directly under the armpits. The second measurement is the length of the shirt going down the front center starting at the top of the collar down to the bottom of the hem. We strongly urge you to find your favorite same-style, perfect fitting shirt and make the same measurements to be sure you get the shirt that is closest to your size.
